This weekend four of us drove down to Louisville, KY for the Cyclocross World Championships which were in the United States for the first time ever. We packed our bikes, some clothes, and a couple sleeping bags in the Sprinter van and got to it.
Put some driving time in myself while the children got some rest.
And finally got to Kentucky.
Before heading to Louisville we headed down to Lexington first to drop off a set of VW seats.
Back on the road. Watched some crappy movies and bullshitted a whiles.
Got to the hotel Friday night.
Went and grabbed some dinner at Heart and Soy.
Had their own tofu machine. never seen that before.
The Pad Thai was the ticket.
We met up with Jeff and some of the BikeSport guys at the Holy Grale and drank some proper beers.
We woke up Saturday morning and got ready for the races.
Just enough snow on the ground to make slicks interesting for the 4mi jaunt.
Threw a plastic bag over the seat and started a bike pile outside of the venue.
We got there before the junior men’s U18 race.
After the U18 race I walked around a bit.
The Belgian’s do it right.
Next up was the Elite Women’s race.
Wild finish

podium
Walked around a bit more to check out some more of the course. Empty pits between races.
Next was the U23 Men
Then the main event, Elite Men. Before the race started this guy jumped over the fence by us and did a quick run around.
Trebon took a hard one going over the bars down the hill
After all the races we rode straight to the hotel to warm our bodies and grab some actual food. We headed to the ‘foam-party’ but was let down by the lack of foam.
The party did have some cross celebs though.
I took photos of other people with the elite men and women’s champ. Pete was in heaven with Sven Nys (elite men’s world champ) and may have had the best night of his life before our partying even started.
Gerry looked pretty excited as well with the women’s world champ!
We cruised downtown to the tourist spots and took advantage of the cheap beer in the south … midwest …. whatever it is they call Kentucky.
After a late night we got back on the road Sunday for the long drive home… It was an epic weekend with some great people.

Thanks. I was curious if there were too many pictures from the race.
This was a seriously unreal weekend. Hockey with Kabush, Super Bowl with Vos, Dutch riders all over the place, Van Der Haar wearing a Van Der Haarder shirt. Wish we got to meet up with you guys more, but I see enough of you in PA.
I want a Van Der Haarder tshirt!!!
What do they look like?!
Youd know this if you had an instgram account!
