Cross Camp 2012

4 Sep

This weekend we drove down to Maryland to the KindHuman Sports team cross camp that they hold annually. I really appreciated the invite since its a team camp that Im not apart of, but maybe it had more to do with the lady coming down this year and her aid in upping the women to men rider ratio 🙂 Nonetheless it was a blast. Before we left I had 2 cross rigs down with only my new Nature Boy SSCX rig able to move. Thursday night I received the Spooky rear derailleur hangers in the mail and tried to get some work done. I needed to throw on the hanger, put on a new rear derailleur, new chain, then put on a new 44t front ring (I had a 42t on there temperately), then re adjust the front derailleur. On top of that was to try to get a 2×2 setup going on the SSCX bike and pack all my bags and pack 2 bikes & 4 wheels in the car so the lady could pick me straight up form work to head down south. Lots to do… I didn’t get the Spooky done in time but everything else got done for the most part.

On the way down we stopped off at Total Wine to grab some brews for the weekend even though there was no room in the care for a case or two. 4 bikes and three people and we all had bags/beer onto of us.

After crappy traffic we eventually made it down. We stretched the legs by walking the course. It was going to be rad. We helped tape more of the course throughout the night.

With everyone having 1 or 2 bikes the bike pile started to grow quickly.

We set up camp right by the course before the sun went too low.

We settled in for the night and made some dinner and sat around the fire.

The next day as everyone started riding I was working on the Nature Boy since I kept throwing chains and then started on the  Spooky Supertouch.

I eventually got the bike dialed and even got to try out the Dugasts i recently glued up!

And like that it was over.  We drove home sunday afternoon with tired legs and a smile on our faces.  Later this week I will post a GoPro of a lap or two so stay tuned.
